As Typhoon Kahnun slowly moves away from Taiwan, the strong winds and heavy rainfall continued to create destruction in the northern parts of the island. 

Eva Air dispatched the Boeing 777, which can carry 333 people on board, to bring passengers back to Taiwan after Okinawa’s Naha Airport resumed operations on Thursday (Aug. 3) after two days of closure due to Typhoon Kahnun. Each flight was reportedly nearly full. 

In anticipation of Typhoon Khanun’s arrival, President Tsai Ing-wen visited the Central Emergency Operation Center on Thursday morning (Aug. 3) to ensure the necessary precautions were taken to keep the public safe.
